The Admin Stuff section at the bottom of most pages in Trekopedia is there to give you context for the information listed. For example, an item on a hotel is typically time-sensitive (it can become out-of-date very quickly). By looking at the Admin section, you can get a sense of how up-to-date the information is.
Likewise, the Admin section will tell you how complete and how accurate we think the information is (as of the date listed for the most recent update). Keep in mind that this is just our best estimate based on the information available to us. We can’t visit every location in Trekopedia — we rely heavily on the amazing Trekopedia community for feedback, suggestions, and corrections.
Here’s how we use each of the terms in this section:
This is the date we first created an entry for this item.
Date Last Updated
This is the date we last updated the item in our database. Note, this might not always exactly match the date we updated the website page. We maintain all of our information in an off-line database that we synchronize with the website. Sometimes there are small gaps between updates in the database and when we post them to the website.
Also, keep in mind that this date is generally updated whenever we make any change, even a tiny one. Thus, this date does not necessarily mean that all of the information is fully up-to-date as of that date. For example, we might have talked with a hotel about their rates three months previously but fixed a typo today – the ‘last updated’ date will be today, but the information about rates will still be three months old! For particularly time-sensitive information, check the ‘Admin Notes’ area — we try to add comments there whenever possible.
This is a rating (from ‘Very Poor’ to ‘Very Good’) based on how accurate we think the overall information is for this item, as of the date it was last updated.
This is based on our own first-hand knowledge as well as feedback from others in the Trekopedia community. Any assistance you can provide in improving the accuracy of the content would be highly appreciated.
This is a rating (from ‘Very Poor’ to ‘Very Good’) based on how complete / thorough we think the overall information is for this item, as of the date it was last updated. This is different from the Content Accuracy rating: ‘accuracy’ relates to the information that is there while ‘completeness’ relates to the scope of information available for the item. For example, if we don’t have information about rates at a hotel, the ‘accuracy’ rating won’t be affected but the ‘completeness’ rating might be lowered.
This is a rating (from ‘Very Poor’ to ‘Very Good’) based on how accurate we think the coordinates are for this location. We’ve ‘broken out’ the coordinates from the overall ‘content accuracy’ rating since high-quality coordinates are so important – if you can’t find a location then knowing lots of other information about it doesn’t really help you…
The TrekRight Status indicates if the item is included within our TrekRight mobile app.
The Admin Notes section contains any useful notes about the item, especially anything that might be time-sensitive.
