You know those people, who go somewhere and always walk with their cameras hanging on their necks. It usually has to be semi-professional camera, but can be set on auto regime. It just has to look professional. Everybody knows those people.
Some of them just enjoy taking few pictures of some breathtaking sceneries and objects. But there’s another type – photographer-tourists that take pictures of everything.
Imagine going to a restaurant and taking picture of your food before eating (oh, wait, half of the population now does that). Imagine going to a museum and taking picture of absolutely every piece there. Or going to the zoo and taking picture of every animal (even of the snake which you hate). In general – imagine seeing your trip only through the camera.
You come back home after an amazing trip, but have no idea if it really was amazing, you just have million pictures of stuff (yes, in million pictures those amazing objects just become “stuff”) that you saw there.
I once went to the most amazing adventure ever. Long story short – I was sitting on the boat with my friend, jaws open, holding my friend’s hand and being afraid to close my eyes, because I could miss something. In front of me there was one of those photographer-tourists sitting. I doubt if he saw anything with his own eyes since he’s never put down the camera. At the end one thing is clear – I don’t have any material for my Instagram to make my friends jealous (oh no!), but I have memories.
That guy, on the other hand, has million of same pictures to show to his friends (about this – next time), but I think he will only remember taking pictures of the whales, not actually seeing the whales. If that is enough for him – that’s great.
But if you go on a trip, enjoy it as much as you can while you are there. Because you will definitely remember the best moments. The best pictures on the other hand – you might forget.
P.S. Thank you, Ben, for this amazing picture of people taking pictures: http://bit.ly/2skULAS
P.P.S. If your pictures look like this amazing shot taken on Lycian Way – nevermind this blog post and take pictures. Actually, take more pictures, because this one is amazing. Great job, Joanne: http://bit.ly/2rXaSnq
