Belos Ruins
Between Yatıkardıç Yayla & Finike

Ruins located in the mountains between Demre and Finike.

The ruins of the necropolis is just south of the turnoff into the ruins from the Lycian Way. The main area for these ruins is further up the hillside, about 250m away from the Lycian Way and about 15m of extra ascending, including the remains of the fortress, some tombs, and, over the crest, various houses.

Compared to many other sites along the Lycian Way, these ruins aren’t much to look at. However, there is something to be said for exploring ruins that relatively few people get to see due to their extremely remote location. Also, the view from the top of the hill is excellent. Note, care should be taken around the ancient cisterns as they are not marked and there are no barriers.

The linked Histolia site has some background info on the ruins. The site is in German but easily readable with Google Translate.

How You Can Help

Trail research is never actually done. Here’s some of what we’re looking for:
✅   More photos! Ideally with geo-location information in the metadata. In addition to using some photos on Trekopedia, we add them to our internal reference database which significantly helps us with trail research. The more photos, the better! If you are willing to share your collection with us, we’d be incredibly grateful. Let us know and we’ll arrange a transfer.

✅   Points of interest. Help us identify (and geo-locate) accommodations, attractions, restaurants, markets, trail waypoints, confusing or problematic junctions, difficult or hazardous places, water sources, and so on.

✅   Tips & recommendations. Share your thoughts with other hikers.
In addition to the above, please see this article for information on more general ways you can help. Thanks!
