What We Collect and How it is Used
Except as noted below, we do not collect any personally identifiable information about you. Exceptions are the following:
1) If you send us emails, we typically retain copies of all correspondence so that we have a history of our conversations with you, which helps with subsequent support inquiries, responding to feedback, discussions with you about trails and trail resources / issues, and similar communications. We do not sell email lists.
2a) If you send us feedback emails generated from within the app, some information is pre-inserted in plain text format in the generated email providing details about the application’s state and about your device. You can review and edit this information, including deleting it, if you wish before sending the email. This information is only used for support purposes.
2b) In some cases, a feedback email generated from within the app may include a copy of your currently active User Route. This is attached in a binary format and won’t be reviewable by you prior to sending the email. The user route does not include any identifiable information nor does it include any user notes you may have added within the app. If you wish, you may delete this attachment before sending such feedback emails.
3) During usage, if you have given the app permission to access your location it will periodically poll the GPS antennae of your device to obtain your location. This is used within the app to show you your location, to determine which content to display for you, and to calculate progress statistics relating to your hike. The app does not send such data to us nor does it permanently record it on the device.

Security of Your Information
Feedback emails are typically transmitted as unsecured plain text. Please keep in mind that any information you include within such emails could be intercepted by third parties.
Once received by us, we use reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect the information contained within the feedback emails. However, no measures are perfect and we do not recommend that sensitive information be sent to us via email.
Emails are stored both on our hosting company’s servers and within our own email clients.
Within the app itself, any user notes or other content you enter into the app is stored within a database on your device which could potentially be read by a 3rd party if they are able to access your device or its stored data.
