Essentials

Limanağzı (hamlet)
Boğazcık (village)
The endpoints are WSW–ENE, with Boğazcık to the ENE, but the path itself winds in a broad arc to the S.
The western three-quarters of this section are a series of small hills, usually not exceeding 15% slope and mostly under 12%. The E end has a long slope (about 11.5% grade over about 2.5 km) with a flat stretch at the very eastern end (at Boğazcık). Small portions can be quite steep (20%+).
Much of the trail is rocky and often quite uneven – watch your footing!
Way-finding can be problematic in places. There are signposts at many key junctions and painted blazes in many places but it is easy to overlook some junctions.

Handy Things to Know

The following notes are gathered from our own experiences and from feedback sent to us by other hikers. Let us know how we can improve these notes – and thanks!

Water

  • There are multiple water sources along this section. However, some are often dry much of the year and/or not clean.

Tips

  • Cellular connectivity will be limited or non-existent through significant stretches of this section.
  • Note that Fakdere Beach is private property and camping there is not permitted.

Alerts / Hazards

  • Don’t let the relatively mild slope numbers for this section mislead you – most of this section is along rugged, uneven paths that are constantly rising and falling in a way that can be exhausting on the legs.
  • In some places you’ll need to do a bit of scrambling over / around boulders. Be cautious in wet, windy conditions especially if carrying a large backpack.

Accommodations

  • Limited accommodation is available at the endpoints.
  • Passes close to the village of Sısla Mevki (which has a bungalow-style guesthouse if you want to break up this section).

Camping

  • Despite the length and remoteness of this section, there are surprisingly few good camping locations (most of the terrain is simply too rugged). However, there’s an excellent area at Üzüm İskelesi and a small number of other locations.

Amenities

  • There’s often a food truck available at Üzüm İskelesi.

How You Can Help

Trail research is never actually done. Here’s some of what we’re looking for:
✅   More photos! Ideally with geo-location information in the metadata. In addition to using some photos on Trekopedia, we add them to our internal reference database which significantly helps us with trail research. The more photos, the better! If you are willing to share your collection with us, we’d be incredibly grateful. Let us know and we’ll arrange a transfer.

✅   Points of interest. Help us identify (and geo-locate) accommodations, attractions, restaurants, markets, trail waypoints, confusing or problematic junctions, difficult or hazardous places, water sources, and so on.

✅   Tips & recommendations. Share your thoughts with other hikers.
In addition to the above, please see this article for information on more general ways you can help. Thanks!

4 aggressive dogs around 3km before the Boğazcık. Probably possible to pass them if you follow the official trail. We chose the dirt road and not nice surprise was awaiting.

That’s the second report we’ve had recently about aggressive dogs in the area… 🙁
