Handy Things to Know
The following notes are gathered from our own experiences and from feedback sent to us by other hikers. Let us know how we can improve these notes – and thanks!
Water
- Several water fountains are available. As usual, though, they shouldn’t be relied upon.
Highlights
- Scenery is the main highlight of this section – lots of nice views.
Tips
- This is a very exposed section due to the slope. The sun is often a problem during summer – an early start is recommended.
Route Planning
- This is part of one of the two options between the villages of Alınca and Bel. This one, which most people seem to treat as the ‘main’ option, goes via the village of Yediburunlar (Gey) while the other goes via the village of Dodurga.
- This option is more remote and rugged, with less road walking and much better / more frequent coastal views. The other option is easier, has more road walking (quiet rural roads) and takes in the Sidyma ruins.
Alerts / Hazards
- Note that the trails in multiple places can be narrow, rocky, and occasionally a bit unnerving if you have a fear of heights. You’ll need to watch your footing on loose rocks and when maneuvering over / around boulders (especially if you are carrying a heavy backpack).
- Caution recommended in poor weather conditions (especially high winds). We suggest following the nearby roads instead in such circumstances.
Accommodations
- Accommodation options, albeit limited, are available at both endpoints.
Camping
- Wild camping opportunities are very limited due to the nature of the terrain.
Amenities
- Limited amenities are available at the endpoints but nothing inbetween.

Pretty Pictures
Sometimes nothing beats a good photo. Or even a bad photo! If you’d like to share some or all of your photo collection with the Trekopedia community, contact us at photos@trekopedia.com and we can arrange a transfer of them. And thanks!

How You Can Help
Trail research is never actually done. Here’s some of what we’re looking for:
✅ More photos! Ideally with geo-location information in the metadata. In addition to using some photos on Trekopedia, we add them to our internal reference database which significantly helps us with trail research. The more photos, the better! If you are willing to share your collection with us, we’d be incredibly grateful. Let us know and we’ll arrange a transfer.
✅ Points of interest. Help us identify (and geo-locate) accommodations, attractions, restaurants, markets, trail waypoints, confusing or problematic junctions, difficult or hazardous places, water sources, and so on.
✅ Tips & recommendations. Share your thoughts with other hikers.

A father hiking with two children, aged 13 and 14, commented to us: “This was a challenging section but my son and daughter didn’t have any major problems with it. Care has to be taken with footing over much of it. It’s a little overgrown in a few places but manageable. Incredible views. Our favorite section so far.”
